Wow. Another surprising casting in dramaland! Looks like all stupendous acting talents are moving to small screen, or tvN to be exact, as the network has added another feather in its cap with Im Soo Jung confirming to star in its upcoming fantasy drama Chicago Typewriter. The actress starred in superhit melodrama I’m Sorry I Love You (with So Ji Sub) back in 2004 and has consistently done films since then, receiving accolades through the years. Park Shin Hye‘s name was floated in the initial reports related to the show. Yoo Ah In has been cast as the main lead. I’ve loved him ever since Sungkyunkwan Scandal and I’m so happy that he has carved a successful and impressive career, both in films as well as dramas.

Chicago Typewriter is about writers — I like that it has taken a somewhat refreshing theme. Yoo Ah In plays the role of a bestselling author, while Im Soo Jung plays his anti-fan, who is a veterinarian. The drama involves a third major character, played by Go Kyung Pyo (love him!), a ghostwriter. He was last seen in romcom Jealousy Incarnate. The three people and an old typewriter complete the picture of this fantasy which also involves the three of them as being the reincarnated souls of writers that lived in the 1930s and struggled during the Japanese occupation of South Korea. I’m already intrigued by the premise which looks pretty thrilling and mysterious. The cast also includes Jo Woo Jin (the secretary from Goblin) as our hero’s editor and friend. Cutie Kwak Shi Yang (Oh My Ghostess) has been offered to play hero’s rival in love, also a writer.

Chicago Typewriter is penned by the writer (hur hur) of Kill Me, Heal Me and Moon That Embraces The Sun while the direction will be by the PD of On The Way To The Airport and My Beautiful Bride. It is slated to follow currently airing Tomorrow With You as a Friday-Saturday drama.
