I’m very interested in upcoming weekend drama Second to Last Love, which is sudden because I didn’t pay attention to it until recently when I realised it’s premiering this week. The show is a remake of a Jdrama of the same name and stars Kim Hee Ae, Ji Jin Hee, Kim Seul Gi and Kwak Shi Yang in the lead roles. Firstly, I like this cast a lot and secondly, the plot is also pretty feel-good.
It’s a story about a 40-something woman who wishes that something exciting happen in her life. Kim Hee Ae (Mrs. Cop) is the said character who is a television producer. Ji Jin Hee (I Have a Lover) plays exact opposite to her, who wants his life to be simple and straight. He is a civil servant and father of a 15-year-old girl. Kim Seul Gi (she is always awesome!) plays his sister and a webtoon writer while Kwak Shi Yang (loved him in Oh My Ghostess) plays his family friend who develops feelings for Kim Hee Ae’s character. The plot sounds nothing new but a formula that always works and the cast ensemble is great, so I’m hoping for an enjoyable ride. I’m also excited to see Kim Hee Ae in a romantic comedy.
Second to Last Love is helmed by the PD of High Society and Five Fingers and writer of Emergency Couple and Lie to Me (Umm, haven’t read many good things about these shows). The show starts airing this weekend as the new Saturday-Sunday drama for SBS.
