The casting of main leads for the upcoming Hong Sisters drama, titled The Sun of My Master aka The Sun of The Lord (not quite appealing, I know), was reported as So Ji Sub and Gong Hyo Jin; who were in positive consideration of the show. It has resulted in the final confirmation, as is the case most of the times. We now have an interesting pair for this romantic comedy with dash of horror about a woman who can see ghosts and a man who protects her.
Well, to be more clear, the drama stars So Ji Sub as a greedy, money-minded and conceited CEO who knows only money, whereas Gong Hyo Jin will play melancholic and tearful assistant. Oh I love boss-assistant love stories. Yay for that setup only. Our heroine’s character starts seeing ghosts after an accident and then she suffers from insomnia, leading her to live a reclusive, lonely life because of her new found power. The show is being touted as a soul healing tale about two people, one who can see what others can’t and one who sees whatever he wants, and how they grow together.
I’m really looking forward to this show, notwithstanding the letdown called Big as I love almost all dramas written by Hong Sisters. They have great talent in making heart tugging situations teamed with funny shenanigans. And yes, they create awesome couples with magical chemistry. Gong Hyo Jin is going to work with the writer duo for the second time after 2011’s hit Best Love. So Ji Sub is known for his serious roles and his last rom-com came in 2002, which was We Are Dating Now with Chae Rim. I’m glad the show has a fresh appeal in story as well as the pairing.
The Sun of The Lord plans to premiere in August on SBS.
